How to Make a Test Call in Microsoft Teams
Testing your audio and video settings in Microsoft Teams is crucial to ensure everything works smoothly for your meetings and calls. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make a test call in Teams:
1. Open Microsoft Teams
- Launch the Microsoft Teams app on your computer or mobile device.
- If you’re using the desktop app, make sure you’re signed in with your account.
2. Go to Settings

- Click on your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner of the Teams window.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

- Tap on the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
- Select Settings from the sidebar.
3. Navigate to Devices
- In the Settings menu, go to the Devices tab.
- Here, you’ll find options to configure your audio and video devices, such as your microphone, speakers, and camera.
4. Check Your Audio and Video Devices
- Ensure that the correct devices are selected for Microphone, Speakers, and Camera. You can choose from the dropdown menus if you have multiple devices connected.
- You can use the Make a Test Call feature to test your audio and video setup.
5. Make a Test Call
- Click on Make a Test Call. Teams will connect you to a test call where you can check your audio and video settings.
- Follow the prompts to record a short message. The system will play back your message so you can verify your microphone and speaker settings.
- If you’re using video, you’ll see a preview to check your camera’s functionality and ensure you’re framed correctly.
6. Review Your Test Call
- Listen to the playback to ensure that your audio quality is clear and that there’s no background noise or distortion.
